ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ORDER of SCIOTS Pyramid No. 5
TRUMPETER
From The Toparch

Willard Hall
525 Fulton St
Stockton, CA

Here it is December and Christ-mas is right around the corner. How time flies! It seems just like yesterday that it was January.
You missed a great time by all at the November birthday party for the pyramid. There was a short business meeting with a new member initiation, then the social hour with dinner. A good time was had by all, lots of fun, merri-ment and good food. We had three Su-preme Officer's in attendance the Mohar of the North, the Supreme Armeses and the Supreme Lecturer as well and the Junior Past Pharaoh.
The Pyramid was given a mission to perform by the Grand Master of Cali-fornia and the Pharaoh. The Mohar of the North delivered a gavel that has to visit all the Blue Lodges in District 5 by October 2002, so get you Lodge visiting clothes ready. Sciot Schroeder, will make a case for the gavel. We will be de-livering the gavel to Modesto 15 at the OV. I will be getting a visitation schedule out in the next couple of weeks I would like everyone that can to attend our visi-tations. Lets really show the Blue Lodges that Sciots are there for them.
December and January stated meetings dinners will be potluck. Please, Please call my Lady Carolyn at 209-951-1109 and let her know what you will be bringing. There will be a nominal cost, gota pay the rent.
December will be the starting time for those of you that want to be part of a Sciot Second Degree Team or "side-liners" for the degree. Take some time and let me know what part you want. This is a great way to get everyone to know about Sciots. Don't forget that "from you come our new members". Bring a Friend - Have them leave a SCIOT
! One of the messages that I would like to get out to every one is: Where is Sciots going this year? How do we plan to get there? And, How can each Sciot help?

December 2001

The first thing I want all of us to do is bring in new members. We can all do this through talking to the members in our lodges and visitations. What you can do and I can do is be good Sciots, talk about Sciots and visit the Blue Lodges as a group. The traveling gavel is one way for us to start the visitations.

Ladies,
I thought I would make a few comments to let you know about our dinner plans for December and January. December's dinner will be a potluck. I was able to speak to only a few of you at November's meeting, so please call me at 951-1109 or email me at clwcarolyn@yahoo.com and let me know what you would like to bring. We need main dishes, salads, side dishes (potatoes, pasta, veggies), bread, appetizers, and desserts. Please bring enough to serve 10 or more to in-sure that there is ample food (our guys get hungry). Our dinner for January will also be a potluck, but we are going to try a soup (chili, stew, etc.) and salad (any kind) theme. I will have a sign up sheet at the December meeting. I mentioned briefly at the October meet-ing that my goal for the year was for the Ladies Club to make a positive contribu-tion to our community. Come to the De-cember meeting with your ideas and hopefully, we will be able to agree on a project at that time. I look forward to seeing each of you soon.

Sincerely,
Carolyn Ward

5 OAKS BOARD OF DIRECTORS NEWS
November 2001

The new 5 Oaks Board of Directors held its first meeting on October 11th and elected officers for the ensuing year. The new officers are:

President:                   Carl Lindstrom (Building Manager)
Vice President:            Robert Schroeder
Secretary/Treasurer:    Ken Edwards
Director:                      Robert Lopez
Director:                      Dennis Meritt
Director:                      Don Wilcoxen
Director:                      Dean “Fritz” Turner

Highlights of the meeting included discussions on parking lot repairs, installation of new lights in Willard Hall and the installation of a handicap ramp for entrance to Willard Hall. Also installing a timer on the thermostat was deemed to be a necessity since renters are still forgetting to turn thermostat off before leaving. This is having a significant impact on our utility bills.

Weather permitting, the Board is implementing a monthly work detail at the Sciots Hall. This will normally be scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month. The 2nd Saturday of November is Supreme Sessions so the work party will be on the 1st Saturday, November 3rd.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in whatever way that they can. There is yard work that constantly needs doing, as well as general cleanup. If you have expertise in plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting or any other area we have many, many projects that need to be accomplished and we encourage you to adopt one now. Remember that we are all owners here and it is in our own best interest to maintain the facility.

Fraternally,

Ken Edwards
Sec/Treas 5 Oaks Board of Directors
