ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ORDER of SCIOTS Pyramid No. 5
TRUMPETER
From The Toparch

Willard Hall
525 Fulton St
Stockton, CA

My Gosh! A new year already! Where has the time gone? We have had a lot of fun in Sciots and there is more to come, but down to business.

The dinner in January will be a potluck and according to my Lady it will be a "Soup and Salad" affair. I am looking forward to some really good stuff, cuze I like soup and salads.

Remember to call Carolyn at 209-951-1109 and let her know what you will be bringing - no later than Tuesday January the 8th.

For those who could not make the dinner and meeting in December the potluck went very well. There was lots of food to go around and once again the Ladies and some Sciots showed what really great cooks they are. It was outstanding! We also had an opportunity to see the beautiful box that O 'Sciot Schroeder made for the traveling gavel.

The coffee cups arrived for the Pyramid's fundraiser and they are very nice. The brethren have decided that the cost is one for Five Dollars or two for Ten Bucks. So buy a couple of four or six and give some to brethren who aren't Sciots yet, and invite them to a dinner as well.

Don't forget that "from you come our new members".

Bring a Friend - Have them leave a SCIOT!

We soon will be traveling to other lodges with the gavel so get your traveling shoes on and let me know which meetings you can attend.

In March the joint OV is in Modesto and Modesto #15 has been working on getting everything ready for the Pharaoh. Since this is a joint visitation Stockton needs to be there in force. We will need to hold several practices between now and March, so bring your calendars to the meeting so we can get dates to meet and practice.

Be looking for up dates on the OV in the February Trumpeter on times and costs for the OV. Or go to the Sciots web site and it will be posted there.

The March meeting will be held during the OV in Modesto. It is important that everyone be there!

You did a wonderful job at last month's potluck. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Thank you so much for your efforts. We will be having another potluck for the January meeting but this time we have a soup and salad theme. Get out your best soup, stew, chili, salad or bread, recipes and help us get our tummies warmed up on January 11th.

Don't forget to call me at 951-1109 and let me know what you are bringing.

We talked about providing a Spring Basket for a needy family sometime close to Easter and Christina Walter has volunteered to help us find a family who would like our help. I don't have any details yet but I think we should start collecting some non-perishable food and grocery items as soon as possible. Joan Stafco offered to bring a box to put the goodies in and when we have more information about the particular family, we will be able to decide if we can help with things in addition to the food and groceries.

At our January meeting we will discuss the Official Visit in Modesto, our project, and other plans for the New Year. Please call me with your ideas and concerns so I can make sure we discuss them.

Thank you all again for your good work on last month's dinner. I look forward to seeing you on January 11th.

In Friendship,
Carolyn Ward
President
